The CX400 Custom was a smaller-capacity, custom-styled version of the CX family, using a 396 cc version of the liquid-cooled, pushrod 80-degree V-twin with shaft drive. It followed the CX500C recipe of a small tank, stepped seat and 16-inch rear wheel, with a single front disc and rear drum. Honda built it for markets where licence or tax rules favoured a 400 cc class bike.
